Phnom Penh has unveiled its ambitious riverside promenade project, transforming a 3-kilometer stretch along the Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers into a vibrant public space. The $12 million development features expanded walking paths, cycling lanes, public art installations, and landscaped gardens.

This major urban renewal project aims to enhance quality of life for residents while creating a world-class attraction for tourists. Local authorities expect the revitalized waterfront to boost riverside businesses and property values while providing much-needed recreational space in the growing capital.

A highlight of the new promenade is the Riverside Cultural Stage, which will host free performances every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening. Traditional Khmer dance, contemporary music, and seasonal festivals will be featured regularly.

The performance space includes seating for 200 spectators and a state-of-the-art sound system. The cultural program aims to showcase Cambodia's rich performing arts traditions while providing entertainment for both locals and visitors enjoying the riverside area.

The redevelopment has sparked a renaissance in riverside dining, with over 15 new restaurants and cafés opening along the promenade. From traditional Khmer cuisine to international offerings, the expanded dining scene caters to all tastes and budgets.

Notable additions include The River Terrace, offering panoramic views and contemporary Cambodian fusion dishes, and Sunset Lounge, a rooftop establishment specializing in craft cocktails and small plates. The evening ambiance has transformed with tasteful lighting and outdoor seating areas perfect for enjoying the river breeze.
